Broadcast graphics is a deep, mature space — Vizrt, Chyron, Ross, Avid, Singular, Flowics and many others power the world's biggest productions. OGraf isn't here to replace them. It adds a portable, open layer so the same graphic can travel between systems.

OGraf is the EBU's open specification for broadcast graphics. Instead of vendor-specific formats, graphics are packaged as standard Web Components with a lightweight manifest, so one package runs on any OGraf-compatible renderer.
No. Any text editor and a browser are enough. For a guided workflow, use Loopic or the DJ HTML Creator — both export OGraf packages. After Effects users can convert Lottie animations with Ferryman. Drop your .zip on ograf.dev/check to validate it against the live EBU schema.
Yes. The Ecosystem page lists consultancies and studios — Xperity and several commercial tool vendors offer template production and migration services. Broadcast web developers can also be hired via standard channels.
Yes — v1 is complete. The Graphics Definition reached stable in September 2025 and the Server API followed in August 2026. Both are marked production ready, and future changes are committed to being backwards-compatible or optional. Broadcasters are running live productions on it today.
CasparCG HTML templates port over with modest changes — mainly wrapping in a Web Component and adding a manifest. Vizrt templates require a full rewrite today, but several consultancies (see Ecosystem) specialise in migration.
Your graphics don't depend on any single vendor. As long as a compliant renderer exists, your packages keep working. The open spec means new renderers can always be built — the risk surface is much smaller than with proprietary formats.
The specification is owned by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and shaped in the open with vendors like SPX Graphics, Loopic, SuperFlyTV, and StreamShapers, plus broadcasters such as TV2 Denmark.
The specification and most community tooling are free and MIT-licensed. Commercial tools (Loopic, SPX Graphics Server, DJ HTML Creator) have their own pricing. Renderers like ograf-server and CasparCG are open source.
